Yvette’s Background

How does an American born in Paris develop a passion for Lake Tahoe by her 10th birthday? Blame it on “Heidi.

Yvette Shipman recalls the exact moment she decided she wanted to make Lake Tahoe her home. While swimming in the clear blue waters of D. L. Bliss during a family vacation, an eight-year-old Yvette peered up at Rubicon Peak’s sunny mountainside peppered with granite rock outcroppings and bright green manzanita. Awed by this majestic landscape, the scent of pine trees, and the glint of sunlight off the cool, clean water, it hit her. “This is my ‘Heidi!’” she said of the iconic tale of a young girl living in the Swiss Alps. “Ever since that moment, I felt compelled to live here.”

Fulfilling the Dream

Ask anyone who knows her well and they’ll tell you it’s no surprise Yvette made her dream come true. She’s a woman of bold vision and unwavering determination. When she says she’s going to do something, she does it. She revels in the Lake Tahoe lifestyle, skiing in the winter, sailing in the summer, and hiking with her dog at her side all year round. Simply put, her love for the Tahoe life knows no bounds. That’s one of the reasons why she’s such a valuable resource for anyone considering buying or selling a Lake Tahoe home.

In many ways, Yvette grew up in the real estate industry. Her father, an accomplished musician (who spent two years performing in Paris, hence her memorable birthplace, her oh-so-French name and her Francophile tendencies), was also a sought-after real estate broker in Laguna Beach and Incline Village. “I learned about real estate over the dinner table, and I liked it.” Intrigued, she gravitated toward the industry after earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley.

Tuned Into Tahoe

Having been raised in the real estate business, Yvette blends a wealth of industry experience with her passion for Tahoe living to create extraordinary results for her clients. She recognizes that the subtle differences between living on the West Shore, the North Shore, or the East Shore can make a world of difference in the enjoyment one receives from their Tahoe home. “I make a point to listen between the lines to help my clients find their niche in the Tahoe Basin no matter which side of the state line they are drawn to. There are many factors that impact how people live their lives and enjoy their homes; I take pride in ensuring that we stay focused on what matters most to them.”

Yvette has carved her own niche in the Lake Tahoe real estate market. While she enjoys working with people from all walks of life, she has developed a specialty in serving families with special needs after volunteering as a Certified Adaptive Ski Instructor at the Tahoe Adaptive Ski School at Alpine Meadows Ski Area. Yvette excels at helping her clients find the right property no matter how unique their needs may be.
